IT renting for startups and technology companies
In a fast-growing company, capital has a better destination than laptops. Every €100,000 tied up in equipment is months of runway that no longer exist, and equipment is the only large expense that can be deferred without slowing anything down.
- Capital preserved for product and team
- Monthly scaling workstations added as needed
- 3 years of activity, minimum requirement
The sum investors do
A well-equipped engineering team costs between €2,500 and €3,500 per person. When hiring twenty people, that is up to €70,000 of cash used up before the first line of code is written. Spread over 36 months, the same fleet costs little more than €2,000 per month, an operating cost line that does not come up in the conversation about runway.
It is not creating money out of thin air: you pay more in total. The question is whether the company prefers to pay more over three years or to have less cash today. For a growing company, the answer is almost always the former.
The requirement that stops half of all startups
It is the part nobody mentions at the start, so we will: the funders we work with require at least three years of activity and filed accounts. It is not negotiable and it does not depend on the money in the bank; a company that is two years old with a closed funding round is turned down just the same.
If your company has not reached three years yet, there is no point in preparing the application, and we would rather say so in the first conversation than make you lose two weeks. In that case the options are paying upfront, a bank loan guaranteed by the shareholders, or waiting. We can talk again when the third financial year is closed.
From then on, renting becomes one of the most useful tools for a growing company, and that is when the sum above starts to make sense.
- MacBooks, Linux workstations and Windows PCs in the same contract
- Workstations added by addendum as you hire
- A 12, 24 or 36-month term, aligned with the technical hardware cycle
- Preparation and MDM enrolment included in the rent
Frequently asked questions
Can a company with one year of activity get approval?
No. The minimum requirement of the funders we work with is three years of activity and filed accounts, regardless of cash or investment raised. We say so from the start so that nobody wastes time.
Can we keep the MacBooks at the end?
With a finance lease, yes, for a residual value. With operating renting, returning the equipment is the rule, but almost every funder accepts a purchase offer at the end of the term, at market value, not a token amount.
