Infrastructure funders and sale and leaseback
Entities focused on financing sizeable technology infrastructure (servers, storage, data centre) with a capability the others rarely have: valuing and buying back equipment that is already installed.
Strengths
- One of the most interesting options for high-value infrastructure projects
- Able to structure sale and leaseback, which frees up cash immediately
- Experience in putting a value on installed equipment and buying it back
- Flexibility in consumption models and capacity on demand
Where it tends to fall behind
- Not geared to small fleets of workstations
- Heavier processes, suited to large projects rather than quick deals
- Minimum deal size clearly higher than an independent's
Profile
- Focused on infrastructure: servers, storage, networking and data centre
- Sale and leaseback programmes on equipment the company already owns
- Collection and valuation services for end-of-life equipment
When it is the right choice
For sizeable infrastructure projects, and whenever there is installed equipment with a value the company wants to turn into cash. It is the first door we knock on for a sale and leaseback.
We do not work exclusively with any funder. On every request we submit to all four and present the result as it is. We have no incentive to push one over another: our business is supplying the equipment, the software and the services, not the financing.
Questions about the infrastructure funder
What exactly is a sale and leaseback?
The company sells the funder equipment it already owns and receives its market value in cash. The equipment does not leave the premises and is used on a rental basis from then on. It frees up cash without losing installed capacity, and it is especially interesting for equipment bought in the last two years.
Does it accept equipment from various manufacturers?
In asset valuation and sale and leaseback programmes, equipment from several manufacturers is often included. We check case by case before submitting.
The other funders we consult
Independent funder
Not owned by any manufacturer. Decides fast and accepts small amounts the others turn down.
Manufacturer funder
A manufacturer's finance arm. Hard to beat when the whole fleet is from the same brand.
International funder
For deals outside the standard format: step-up rents, staged deliveries, several countries.
ITRENTING acts as a commercial intermediary in presenting financing proposals to businesses and professionals. It is not a credit institution, does not grant credit and is not the exclusive agent of any funding entity. As a matter of choice, we do not publicly disclose the identity of the funders we work with; they are identified to the client within each process.
